Community-building through a union-centered and queer lens is at the heart of Sorab Roustayar’s work. By creating spaces for marginalized voices and fostering collective agency, Sorab initiates democratic emancipation. In dialogue with his audience, he demonstrates how intersectional frameworks can challenge exclusionary power structures, reclaim democratic agency, and cultivate collective action as a lived and enduring political practice.

Sorab Roustayar has been an organizer, project manager, and leader in grassroots and social justice movements for more than fifteen years. As a community builder and an organizer at the Dutch Labour union Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (FNV), he tries to change the neoliberal market in the Netherlands, while in the LGBTQI+ and antiracist communities, he seeks to build alternative worlds and communities. Sorab is also founder of Fite Qlub, a BIPOC Trans & Queer, decolonial, intersectional, multidisciplinary platform that is also outspoken against pink washing. Sorab has also been involved with the political party BIJ1.
